Brydan Xavier

Psychologist

Brydan (He/Him) is a psychologist who has worked in private practice, community mental health, and forensic settings. He is a member of the LGBTIQAPSB+ community and a client-centred practitioner with an empathic, pragmatic, and collaborative approach.

Brydan provides individual therapy to adults across most client populations and a wide range of psychological issues. However, he has a particular interest in supporting men and people in the broader LGBTIQAPSB+ community who experience emotion regulation difficulties, anxiety, mood disorders (e.g. depression and bipolar disorder), personality disorders (particularly borderline personality disorder), trauma (C/PTSD and victims of crime), sexual health and intimacy difficulties, sexuality and gender concerns, relationship and family issues, role transitions and adjustment, work and study issues, and eating disorders.

Brydan uses a variety of evidence-based treatments including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and elements of other therapeutic modalities, within an intersectional and trauma-informed approach.

Brydan works casually for Deakin University and has a background in criminology and law enforcement, before moving into mental health.
